Connect school records without creating another source of truth

The school chooses its roster and attendance sources. Veramast uses the authorized records for campus operations and policy, without writing back.

Each morning the roster and attendance come in from the student information system, and nothing is written back.

Campus operations depend on information the school already maintains: who is enrolled, who is on staff, and which attendance records support a policy. Veramast connects that information to people and vehicle records while keeping the student information system as the source of truth.

The school authorizes each scope

#

Roster, attendance, behaviour categories, and grades are separate scopes. Grades are read only while a published policy uses them. Health records, discipline narratives, and free-lunch status are excluded. The school grants the information the configured connection needs.

A connection must be supported and configured

#

Settings records the chosen source and refresh schedule. The connection may be direct, through a supported roster service, or a file import. A source being listed is not a claim that every provider is connected: until setup is complete, Settings says Veramast connects it.

Match on the district’s identifier

#

A student or staff identifier links the incoming record to the person. A name alone does not. Where an identifier is missing, a proposed match needs a person’s confirmation. Leaving the school changes enrolment status rather than deleting the history of a case or appeal.

Keep the source authoritative

#

Veramast never writes attendance or behaviour back to the student information system. If source data changes, the policy result can be evaluated again with a new explanation. The earlier result remains available as the record of the earlier decision.
