The camera seals the read first
#A car turns into the north driveway at 7:25 in the morning. The Veramast Watchpost reads the plate and keeps a small crop of the plate area, not a photograph of the car. Before that read is stored or sent anywhere, the camera seals it.
Sealed means the record cannot be read by anyone the school has not authorized. What the camera holds while it waits to upload, and what it sends when it does, is sealed the whole way.
What a stolen camera gives up
#If a camera is taken off its pole overnight, whoever is holding it has hardware and a set of sealed records, and no way to open them. The same holds for someone watching the school’s network: they would see sealed records and nothing else. The school has nothing to assess about what a thief could read, because nothing on the camera is readable.
Who sees it afterward
#When a record arrives, it appears for the school in the Gate log with the plate, the time, the direction, the lane, the camera, and the crop. Only people signed in at that school, in a role that allows it, see it. Opening a crop at full size leaves an entry with the person’s name and the time, so the school can read who looked. The front office reads the Gate log the way it reads any list, one row per read, and opens a crop only when it wants the photo.
Veramast’s own staff can see a school’s records only through access the school is told about. The school’s owners get an email naming the staff member and the reason, and the access stays listed afterward.
Evidence that holds up
#When an investigation needs evidence, the school exports a pack. It is designed so that someone outside Veramast, such as the school’s attorney or a district reviewer, can confirm that a record is the one its camera made and that it has not changed since, without taking Veramast’s word for it.
A correction to a plate is shown with a Corrected mark, and the camera’s original read stays visible beside it. Whoever reads the record later sees what the camera read and what a person decided.
Families’ sensitive answers get the same care
#A parent registering a vehicle in August may be asked for sensitive details, and the school’s form asks for them only where the school has chosen to. They are held sealed from the moment the request is sent. A person in the front office who needs to check one opens that item on purpose, and the opening is written down with their name.
The school sets how long anything is kept
#Retention is the school’s setting, within the limits its contract and its jurisdiction set. When a school shortens retention, a confirmation says what will be deleted before the change is saved. The Data and privacy page states in plain sentences what is kept and for how long, so a parent who asks how long the school keeps a photo of the family’s plate can be handed the answer.
